About Den Norske Klub

DNK is a social club with a program which includes Klub dinners, lunches, golf tournaments, 'julebord' and other events. As a result of the Klub's long existence and extensive network, it is in a position to attract celebrities and other well known persons to its events, frequently on the levels of Government, Parliament and senior management of major Norwegian businesses.

Currently DNK has a few hundred members. The bulk of the members consist of Norwegians residing in London, but also other Scandinavians and Britons with a link to Norway .

History

DNK was founded on 17 May 1887 is the oldest club of its kind in the UK and a focal point for the Norwegian community in London.

It was particularly important during the Second World War, when King Haakon VII and the members of the Norwegian government were frequently seen at the Klub.

King Haakon VII became the Klub’s patron and this tradition has continued with King Olav V and HM King Harald V, maintaining the long tradition of association between the Klub and the Royal Family of Norway.

There are many artefacts and memorabilia placed around the house with the most significant being the King Harald V Room the function room with portraits of the Norwegian Royal family.
