History
This year marks the 120th anniversary for DNK. According to the Club minutes it all started one 17th May 1887, with a gathering of 13 young Norwegians gathered in a pub in Charlotte Street, Fitzroy Square, to celebrate Norway’s Constitutional Day.
When the pub was closing the owner asked the group to leave, saying that he could only serve private parties and members of a club. “We represent the Norwegian Club” replied Einar Falck from Oslo. The owner asked to see proof of the Club’s existence, at which point the young men took a small piece of paper and created Den Norske Klub. The next day more formal documents were signed.
